Guide: We are tour guides for museum culture in the San Diego region. We turn our insider perspectives into all-access passes for the public.
Delight: We inspire audiences by connecting you with new museum exhibits, events, and opportunities to explore.
Our mission is to increase awareness, connect, provide services and advocate for the diverse museums within our membership.
The Council traces its roots to Balboa Park in the 1920s. We brought together the directors of museums to discuss topics of interest, work collaboratively on programs and solve common issues. We’ve grown to nearly 80 museums of art, culture, history, science, and nature from all over San Diego County. We provide support services to this industry in resource networking, professional education, and collaborative marketing.
The Council presents three annual signature programs: Museum Month in February, The Big Exchange in May, and Kids Free in October, while also offering additional community-oriented programs and events aimed at providing museum access for all. Learn more about these programs.
