Located on 10 acres of oak woodlands near Julian, California, the Ilan-Lael compound encompasses living quarters, studio and gallery spaces, gardens and a public building for the Ilan-Lael Foundation. Tours are approximately 90 minutes and limited to small groups to enhance your experience. Enjoy the on-site gallery and gift shop offering Hubbell art, books, hand-crafted artisan items, and more. Intro to Copper Enamel Workshop / July 12 @ 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Artist Garrett Goodwin of Goodwin Creations has joined Ilan-Lael’s workshop team to introduce the art of Copper Enamel at the world renowned studio of James Hubbell. In this 1-day class you will learn the basics of copper enamel and construct your own piece of art. Each student will be given copper sheet to shape using a plasma torch and/or hand tools. Next the students twill learn to prepare the copper for the the glass enamel firing process. Copper will be fired during class time and each student will have a piece to take home with them.
Glass Mosaic Expression Workshop / July 19 @ 9:30 am – 4:30 pm
This day-long workshop will focus on the tools, materials, and basic methods of glass mosaic creation, although all skill levels are welcome. Participants will be exploring stained glass and glass tile cutting techniques all while creating their own individual artwork. Each student will get to choose between creating an exclusively mosaic work or a mosaic mirror. James Hubbell’s mosaic art throughout the Ilan-Lael Foundation grounds will provide endless inspiration while students discover their inner artist in the serenity of the Julian mountains.
