Kids Go Free to Museo de las Californias!
Located inside the Tijuana Cultural Center (CECUT), the Museo de las Californias offers families a fascinating journey through the history of the Baja California peninsula, from prehistoric times through the mid-20th century.
Opened in 2000, the museum is designed around a 2,200-square-meter helical ramp that guides visitors through a chronological series of exhibitions. More than 1,000 artifacts, models, maps, fossils, tools, and historical objects help tell the story of the region and the people who shaped it.
Families can explore the indigenous cultures of the Kumeyaay, Paipai, and Kiliwa peoples, early European exploration, the mission era, the creation of modern borders, the Mexican Revolution, and the growth of Baja California and Tijuana in the 20th century. The museum’s permanent galleries also explore the region’s environment and natural history.
The Museo de las Californias is located inside CECUT at Paseo de los Héroes 9350, Zona Urbana Río, 22010 Tijuana, B.C., Mexico and is open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
