CRIA (Centro de Residencias e Investigación Artística) Artists Residency & Gallery

The Center for Residencies and Artistic Research (CRIA) was founded in 2008 by teacher Héctor Herrera, in the city of Ensenada Baja California. The CRIA and its Art Gallery have the purpose of supporting production projects through residencies for artists from all over the world; began its activities in the Central Zone of Ensenada and during 15 years of carrying out projects and inviting artists, it has subsidized residencies so far for 16 artists, from France, Brazil, USA, Chile, Cuba, Spain, United Kingdom, and Mexico. More than 30 exhibitions have been shown and production projects have been developed with UABC art students.

Centro de Residencias e Investigación Artística / Artists Residency & Gallery is an independent space that supports the Arts in Baja California, and invites artists to share and collaborate on artistic projects and productions. The gallery is open six days a week, only closed on Wednesdays. EL CRIA host artists in its facilities through an open call to receive from anywhere in the world and in this way is able to bring visions and ideas from distant parts. The CRIA (Center for Residencies and Artistic Research) is a space formed for research, training and dissemination of art. The CRIA has within its infrastructure independent rooms with all its services, a workshop of more than 100 square meters, and a gallery equipped for the exhibition of artistic pieces. CRIA offers support to artists for the development of artistic projects, with technical advice and spaces.

The CRIA has agreements with different artistic programs in the state where residents can include their proposals and be part of said projects. The call to be a resident at the CRIA is open all year round. CRIA offers space for residents, both residence and production, in addition to the materials they require for their research, as well as direct participation with the agreements.
