The “Álvaro Blancarte” Art Room was designed by architect Jaime Brambila, and built exclusively to house this gallery, as part of the architectural complex of the UABC Community Center Tijuana campus. It occupies an area of 520 m², and has a lobby, mezzanine, and room with 130 linear meters of walls for temporary exhibitions. It began operations under the name Sala de Arte Campus Tijuana and as of December 2007 it was given its current name, in honor of the teacher Álvaro Blancarte, for his career as a promoter of the plastic arts, trainer, and promoter of Baja Californian talents. Six exhibitions are held on average each year. It exhibits work by local, regional, national, and international artists.
