Discover the Spirit of the American West at the Wieghorst Museum
Nestled in the heart of El Cajon, the Olaf Olaf Wieghorst Museum & Western Heritage Center celebrates the life and legacy of renowned Western artist Olaf Wieghorst, who called this community home for 44 years. Wieghorst captured the rugged beauty and rich cultural history of the 19th-century American West with striking portrayals of cowboys, Native Americans, and settlers who helped shape the frontier.
A highlight of the museum is the original home of Olaf and Mae Wieghorst, now beautifully restored to its original condition and designated a Historic Landmark by the City of El Cajon. Complete with period landscaping, the home is open for public tours, offering a rare glimpse into the artist’s life and surroundings.
This FREE museum welcomes visitors Friday and Sunday 11 AM to 3 PM & Saturday from Noon to 4 PM, and private tours and classroom visits can be arranged by appointment.
