New Museums Make Museum Month More FUN!
San Diego’s Museum Month 2024 is BIGGER and MORE FUN with more than 70 museums, historic sites, gardens, zoos, aquariums and more. There’s so much to see at San Diego Museums, and from February 1-29, the San Diego Museum Council is making it easy to visit your favorites by offering half-price admission. Plus there are new museums and new locations to find your Museum Month pass.
Museum Month 2024 is So Big this Year We had to Add an Extra Day!
New Museum Month locations for 2024 include LEGOLAND® California Resort and its SEA LIFE® Aquarium, the California Wolf Center, the Deer Park Winery & Auto Museum and WNDR Museum San Diego and the San Diego International Airport Arts Program. Also new this year, Museum Month will be recognized as an official event of the World Design Capital San Diego Tijuana 2024. The design capital is a designation won together by the two cities for achievements in design that brings with it a yearlong showcase of civic and cultural events.
California Wolf Center
Journey to Julian to experience San Diego County’s only wolf reserve and learn fun facts, meet the wolves, and get an inside look at wolf conservation. Tours are by appointment only. Passes are redeemable for the 12:40 & 2:40 p.m. public tours on Fridays & Mondays and for the 9:40 a.m. public tours on Saturdays & Sundays in February. Deer Park Winery & Auto Museum
For admirers of classic automobiles and all things vintage — the Deer Park Winery & Auto Museum is a FUN destination for the whole family to explore. Plus you can show your Museum Month pass at the door and save 50% off admission to museum during the month of February.
Deer Park Winery & Auto Museum boasts of having the largest convertible car collection in the world highlighted with classic neon signs. The Tijuana Cultural Center (Centro Cultural Tijuana – CECUT) has become a symbol of Tijuana and possesses an exceptional infrastructure within the country –which houses the Museo de las Californias, a multipurpose room and children’s area called CECUTi, a botanical garden, the Moon Forum, aquarium, The Cube, the Documentation Center for the Arts, the Carlos Monsivais Room, and more. The Tijuana Aquarium is the only one of its kind in the state of Baja California, it has a surface area of 300 square meters and is located inside the facilities of the Tijuana Cultural Center. It houses 500 specimens belonging to 12 species native to the region, 41 species from different parts of the world and 13 more Australian corals, in addition to a species of jellyfish and another species of freshwater turtle. In 2023, Centro Cultural Tijuana (CECUT) paid tribute to the 15th anniversary of El Cubo, an emblematic space in the state that has been the venue of hundreds of national and international artists and exhibitions. The 1,500 square meters of exhibition area, currently featuring Czech artist David Cernys: ‘Rebelión’, allows the city and its visitors to appreciate more frequently masterpieces of universal art, as well as various cultural manifestations. Inaugurated on February 24, 2000, the Museo de las Californias has a permanent exhibition of objects representative of regional history, ranging from prehistory to the second half of the 20th century. When visiting, you’ll discover a fascinating collection of historical artifacts, including maps, tools and journals going back to the 16th-century expeditions of the legendary conquistador Hernán Cortés. Its main focus, though, is on fossils from the local Sierra de la Laguna range.
The Municipal Institute of Art and Culture is responsible for the 4 Houses of Culture, the Network of Municipal Libraries, as well as the Historical Archive of Tijuana (AHT), the Museum of Tijuana History (MuHTi) and several Galleries.
The Museo de Historia de Tijuana / Tijuana History Museum is located in the Palacio de la Cultura de Tijuana and was inaugurated in November 2010, it is the space dedicated to the conservation and dissemination of the heritage and history of Tijuana. It offers a permanent exhibition hall as a tribute to the city, its history, and its inhabitants, showing its natural and urban landscape, economic and social life, artistic and sporting expressions.
